Philip George Dorcas and Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Magallón were married June 14, 2008, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. The wedding was conducted in three languages: English, the international language of Esperanto, and Spanish. The bride was given away by her sons, Victor III and Benjamin Magallón. The groom was given away by his daughters, Jennifer and Amanda Dorcas. The theme of the wedding was "Making Peace with the Past, Hope for the Future, Living in God's Love."
The bride is the daughter of the late Dolores and Earl Snader. The groom is the son of the late Lois and Ken Dorcas. White carnations were placed on chairs in memory of the parents. Pastors, translators, family and friends who participated in the wedding were from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the country of Mexico. Pastors and translators included George McLaughlin, Stephen Allison, Kevin Bult and Lee Miller.
The matrons of honor, bridesmaids and flower girls were Marie Allison, María Conroy, Andrea Bult, Jennifer and Amanda Dorcas, Theresa and Robyn Allison, Ann Wooten, Ana and Laura Magallón, Emma and Lilian Bult, and Aurora and Vivian Conroy. The best men, groomsmen, and junior groomsmen were Gene and David Dorcas, Victor III and Benjamin Magallón, Erik, James, and Joshua Allison, Ethan Bult, and Garrett, Luke and Wyatt Dorcas.
The bride wore a full-length white, dull satin gown with beads and lace, a long veil, and chrysoprase necklace and earrings with pearls. The women and girls wore custom-made full-length white, dull satin dresses with mint green satin sashes. The men and boys wore white, custom-made "Filipina" shirts of fine Manta special ordered from Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Flowers were a variety of seasonal colors.
The bride played violin in "Peace in the Valley" with Joe and Edith Carroll, Rubie Disheroon and Almera Seber of the "Go Ye Oprey". The bride's sons and daughters played guitar and harmonica and sang "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens and "Prayer for Home" by Fernando Ortega. The daughters of the groom played a piano rendition of "Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet" by Amy Grant, and presented a special reading of "Wedding Poem" by M.S. Lowndes. Roberta Jones and Ron Goosen played the keyboard and sang "The Blessing Song" by Dennis Jernigan. Lorraine Ackley played hymns of praise and the love of God on the piano before the wedding, and also the entrance and exit music: "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin by Richard Wagner and "The Wedding March" from "A Midsummer's Night's Dream" by Felix Mendelssohn. John Fite played a variety of music during the reception.
The reception and morning brunch were catered locally, but also included services of out-of-town chefs. The top of the six-layer cake was adorned with three dimensional, confection figures: a five-point green star, the symbol of Esperanto, and a globe of the world. The cake and the wedding made international news. The Esperanto programs of Polish Radio announced the wedding and described the cake to the world.
